Job Title: Aerosol Deodorants Senior Formulation Manager

Job Purpose
Background
The Deodorants category is a key part of the Unilever Personal Care Business Group, with a family of Power Brands – Rexona, Dove, Axe – which are critical growth drivers of the company.
Formulation design plays a highly prominent role in innovation plans, and is a key capability to drive competitive advantage and growth opportunities through the development of consumer preferred experiences.
This role comprises leading new future chassis development for aerosols, and delivering innovation solutions to create consumer preferred aerosol formulation chassis globally.
This senior role is will play a key part in creating the future of Unilever’s global Deodorants aerosol portfolio.

Main Accountabilities
- Leadership of Aerosol Deodorant Formulation technology area to deliver breakthrough technologies & formulation chassis for our power brands.
- Lead the design & delivery of a medium-long term future chassis technical roadmap for aerosols and maintain alignment with the long-term innovation and strategy programmes.
- Work with our new technology & expertise teams and external suppliers to build a roadmap of new ingredients which help deliver new/better benefits, and create chassis fit for future consumer needs & regulatory requirements.
- Develop breakthrough solutions to meet sustainability commitments.
- Define and deliver the key technical validation packages for new Formulation Designs – demonstrating meeting the action standards for consumer benefit, product costs, legal, regulatory & safety considerations, etc.
- Lead the Resilience programmes for aerosol formulation to ensure continuous improvement in input costs and security of supply.
- Develop & implement best practice in aerosol formulation to drive continuous improvement & functional excellence.
- Identify routes for digital solutions to improve invention or efficiency within aerosol formulation development, and develop new tools/models in partnership with digital experts & partners.
- Ensuring team operating according to best practices in formulation chemistry & chassis development, and identify routes to unlock speed & capacity.
- Lead, develop & inspire a team of talented formulators.
- Desirable Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (science and technology expertise)
- Fully operational in Formulation Development in R&D and awareness / experience in related functions (eg processing, aerosol packaging).
- 5+ years relevant working experience with a proven track record on product & formulation chassis design in Aerosols (Personal Care / Deodorants preferable).
- Demonstrable experience of talent development & building high performing teams.
- A growth mindset, with the curiosity to spot & implement opportunities to make improvements.
- Ability to form excellent partnerships with internal & external partners, and work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams.
- Strong communicator, with the ability to translate technically complex information into clear simple messages for teams & stakeholders.
