Lead Test Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital within our Debt Digital program.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Lead criteria: Excellent communicator who can coach, collaborate, influence, develop and lead multiple diverse teams.
  • Influencing decision makers and key stakeholder to help support and define the strategic vision of solutions.
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages, technology, and testing frameworks used within different architectures such as microservice, monoliths, SaaS etc.
  • Ensures that both functional and non-functional needs are embedded in the development & testing of solutions.
  • Ability to understand, review and implement the latest practices, principles, and processes, driving towards whole team quality.
  • Ability to manage and develop test strategies for Commercial Off the Shelf solutions and propriety solutions.

You and your role

This role will suit an engineer who is excellent at resolving technical blockers, understand wider testing principles in Agile and namely Microservice Architecture.

You will be proactively engaging with the wider engineering community to drive consistency and adoption of strategic engineering solutions and standard that build a quality outcome.

The role will require hands on testing engineering and leadership skills.

Our Debt Digital Programme is a transformative major change programme within DWP delivered by multi-functional teams, in varying stages of development.

You will help shape the medium to long-term engineering strategies for centralised, reusable quality products and components that accelerate engineering delivery across DWP Debt Digital, meeting expectations of citizens managing their finances via online channels.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £87,740.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £21,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
