Job Overview

Our services in Horsforth assist clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We require enthusiastic, caring individuals to support our clients with personal care, social events including trips out and supporting with domestic duties. We have a variety of shifts including days and weekends. We have a full-time and two part-time posts at 24 and 16 hours available. A valid UK driving license is desirable.

As a Support Worker, you will provide high quality care and support to our clients to enable them to live their best life. You will be passionate in making a difference to our client’s lives, helping them to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions. This homely service is set in Leeds (LS18) close to public transport routes. We have part time hours available (30 hours per week) There are elements of personal care at some of these services .

Main duties of the job

The Role

  • Person Centred - Prepare person-centred support plans with clients which reflect their views and aspirations and respect their beliefs and opinions, reviewing and amending them as necessary and considering the client’s changing needs and wishes.
  • Respectful - Support clients to fulfill their aspirations, supporting them to live as independently as possible, in accordance with their skills and abilities. This may include accompanying them on social visits and events, supporting them with their interests and hobbies, promoting choice, arranging activities and outings, and developing their skills and knowledge.
  • Open - Communicate in an open and transparent way with clients and other team members, acting with integrity and doing what you say that you will do. Support quality inspection processes, cooperating with on-site inspectors in relation to information requests.
  • Understanding - Where required to provide personal care to clients in a way that respects their choices and dignity, including assistance with washing, bathing, toileting, and continence.
  • Dedicated - Keep appropriate, accurate records, including daily notes, with full involvement of the client. Work always in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, such as Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, infection control, and Risk Assessment procedures.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

  • Willing to provide an appropriate level of care and support to clients, in accordance with their care plan including personal care.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate written and numerical records
  • Ability to undertake a wide range of personal care and domestic duties (specific to each service)
  • Able to carry out the physical requirements of the role including but not limited to climbing stairs/using hoists/pushing wheelchairs/moving people/night work. *Adjustments will be considered in line with the Equality Act where these criteria cannot be met due to a disability
  • Understand or willing to learn how to use computer packages (such as Word, Outlook and the Internet) and to undertake relevant training and qualification in care if required.
  • Able to work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Able to liaise and communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors and other external stakeholders
  • UK Driving license is desirable.
