DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We are looking for 5 Product Managers to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

You and your role

We're transforming the way DWP works, so we have lots of projects and programmes for you to work on.

Some of these roles sit within our Data & Analytics function, working with the likes of Health, Later Life or Working Age supporting their transformation to becoming more data-driven, improving the user experience of millions of customers.

Other roles sit within Integrated Risk and Intelligence Service (IRIS), which is central to the DWP's fraud and error strategy, ensuring our welfare system is protected.

With a data and insights-led approach, you will drive the improvement of our products and services. You will shape the product strategy, own the product roadmap and have the ability to gain buy in from senior stakeholders regarding your choice of techniques.

Being part of our Product Community of Practise means working collaboratively and sharing your skills and knowledge, and access to whatever learning you need to be at your best. You'll also line manage and coach subject matter experts, encouraging their professional growth and ensuring quality delivery.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need? How will this be assessed?

The application process for these roles includes both a technical statement and a personal statement.

This is your opportunity to showcase clear examples and evidence of how you meet the following:

Technical statement:

  • Set the product direction and goals, own the product vision and roadmap, gaining buy-in from the team through effective communication.

Personal Statement:

  • Experience working with users to identify user needs and represent the user in all product decision making.
  • Experience of prioritising backlogs based on user needs, value and effort.
  • Experience of making a decision at short notice.
  • Experience of working in an agile team with a focus on iterative development.

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history, personal statement, and technical statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria above.
