The Endoscopy Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two acute sites: St James's University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.
We are seeking to recruit a Band 7 JAG accredited Nurse Endoscopist to join our large, dynamic, and skilled team working in endoscopy.
The nurse endoscopist team comprises 4 Upper GI and 4 Lower GI specialists, each with roles tailored to their specific skill sets and areas of expertise.
The team leads on both upper and lower GI cancer pathways, supports BCSP services within the local catchment, manages the PEG service, and has recently undertaken the NHSE colon capsule service.
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to achieving a non-medical prescriber qualification and a train-the-trainer qualification. They will work closely with multidisciplinary team members and adhere to local and national guidelines, policies, and standards.
Full-time and part-time hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
- Maintain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health Care Professions Council, including revalidation.
- Practice autonomously with confidence, authority, and expertise, performing a comprehensive range of clinical endoscopic procedures.
- Manage patient caseloads, ensuring accurate care plans reflecting assessments and recommendations.
- Work within challenging clinical environments requiring high physical and mental effort.
- Holistically assess individuals, families, and populations using various assessment methods.
- Promote health and prevention, assessing patients for risk factors and early illness signs.
