Role Overview
The Senior Python Developer will serve as a senior technical consultant, contributing hands-on development expertise and leading the design, development, and deployment of scalable digital services. This role involves managing technical delivery, mentoring engineers, and building client relationships, while contributing to internal knowledge sharing and external engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in Python development and software engineering best practices
- Lead the delivery of user-centred digital solutions within agile, multidisciplinary teams
- Design and maintain efficient, secure, and scalable software development and deployment pipelines
- Engage in technical presentations and stakeholder discussions to communicate progress and solutions
- Collaborate across disciplines to resolve challenges and ensure client needs are met
- Contribute to the recruitment and professional development of engineers
- Represent the engineering community in external forums (e.g., blogs, seminars, conferences)
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Advanced proficiency in Python development
- Deep experience in AWS Serverless (Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, CloudWatch, CloudFormation)
- Strong full-stack skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Node.js, React, Angular
- Experience with containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Microservices architecture and RESTful API development
- Agile delivery experience using Scrum, Kanban, and TDD methodologies
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM)
- Proficient in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps, Atlassian suite)
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable:
- Experience delivering public sector or NHS digital services
