The Role
We are looking for a Junior full-stack developer in one of our Delphi teams. The team write and maintain systems that are live with train operators within the UK, Sweden and New Zealand. As a Junior Developer, you will be keen to learn and help the team improve the functionality that our customers rely on to keep their trains running. The work will be varied, from writing new functionality, investigating live issues, improving the product suite and enhancing our development processes. Our developers take full ownership of a task – from analysing a problem, proposing a solution, coding, testing and deploying to production.
What you will do
- Write clean, efficient code in the following
- Delphi/Pascal
- RESTful APIs for third party integrations
- Database enhancements (primarily PostgreSQL)
- Test and demonstrate your software enhancements to development colleagues, product managers, and possibly customers
- Deploy your software to applications hosted both on-premise and on our AWS cloud platform
- Engage in the Agile Scrum process with planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Liaise and meet with product managers and customers to gain a better understanding of the software requirements that you’ll deliver
- Collaborate with our platform team to ensure our applications run and deploy smoothly
You will:
- Preferably have some experience in Delphi (or other high level language) and relational databases
- Have experience of (or an understanding of) version control, preferably Git
- Have a genuine passion for technology and software development
- Have a logical approach to problem solving
- Be keen to gain skills in technologies and processes – we’re heading towards a DevOps, cloud hosted model
- Have a portfolio of projects to discuss – academic projects accepted
- Be motivated, organised, and a team player
