About the Client:

The Probation Service is a statutory criminal justice service that supervises high-risk offenders released into the community.

What Will Be Your Day to Day Responsibilities?

As a receptionist with the National Probation Service, you'll play a key role in assisting both staff and visitors. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for people on probation and visitors, providing a professional, welcoming service in person, by telephone, and via email.

  • Managing visitor check-in processes: logging arrivals/departures, issuing passes and fobs, and notifying staff.

  • Handling reception-based enquiries promptly and with a customer-focused approach.

  • Overseeing office logistics, including incoming/outgoing mail, deliveries, PPE and supply orders, and managing bookings for rooms, hot desks, and parking.

  • Organising meetings and events: setting up rooms, managing equipment, and registering attendees.

  • Administering travel-related resources like bus fares, travel warrants, and petty cash, and transporting funds between sites when necessary.

  • Supporting building safety and security by:

    1. Conducting fire alarm tests.

    2. Monitoring CCTV.

    3. Serving as a Fire Warden or First Aider when required.

    • Reporting and escalating building faults and maintaining repair logs.

    • Responding calmly and appropriately to potentially volatile situations, escalating to management or external security as needed, with safeguarding always in mind.

    • Covering late-night shifts (until 9pm) approximately once every 3-4 weeks (Monday-Thursday).

    What's in It for You?

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the criminal justice system. As a receptionist, you'll provide vital assistance that keeps operations running smoothly while developing key skills in communication, organisation, and crisis management.

You'll engage with a diverse range of people, including probation officers, clients, and stakeholders and be part of a team dedicated to public safety and rehabilitation. It's a role that offers both daily variety and long-term impact.

    Diversity in the workplace:
