In this role, you will have responsibilities for the Government Regional Centre in Leeds. You will be a key figure in responding to any incident that occurs and lead in emergency situations with day-to-day responsibility for the business continuity and incident control within the Government Hub and Specialist Sites. Youll be responsible for all aspects of the Regions fire safety and ensure that fire safety plans are in place.


Whilst leading on Business Continuity for the Region, you will ensure plans are in place and tested regularly and work with a large group of stakeholders across all business streams. This is an exciting time to join HMRC and be part of HMRC Estates property transformation.Job descriptionThe successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility for the Government Hubs Incident Control and Business Continuity readiness in line with departmental standards.They will be a key figure in responding to any incident that occurs.You will have responsibility for the Regions activities to ensure all HMRC Lines of Business and Other Government Departments are able to react to an incident and to ensure Business Continuity plans and preparations are in place to recover the Regions building/s in the event of an incident.Youll work effectively with colleagues within the Estates Workplace Operations Team and a wide range of stakeholders within the Government Hub and Specialist Sites.Key Responsibilities:Responsible for all aspects of fire safety within the Region, including ensuring that fire safety plans are in place and that the building/s fire safety and emergency procedures fulfil departmental and legal requirements.To act as lead during an emergency situation and take charge of the incident, make decisions and have instructions followed to ensure the safety of the building occupants.Lead on the development of the incident team, providing continuous support and training as required.Lead on and resource the counter terrorism activity in the building in line with departmental standards, working collaboratively with the Regional Security Manager and Head of Counter Terrorism.Provide assurances that all Lines of Business have robust Business Continuity Plans (BCP) in place, assisting the development of plans as necessary, including the development of the Estates BCP.Co-ordinate the activities of the Incident Control team regarding access to the building.Collate and retain copies of PEPs for staff and visitors to the building to ensure they are managed and coordinated within the site emergency evacuation procedures.Carry out weekly building safety checks and take forward any issues identified for action.Provide guidance to all Government Departments within buildings in the Yorkshire area, on all matters of Incident Control and Business Continuity .Monitor safe occupancy within the building/s in collaboration with the Head of Estates.Ensure all staff are trained and able to respond in the correct and effective manner to any emergency situation.Work cohesively with other Estates teams to deliver timely advice, assistance and intervention to provide a quality service.Interpret and apply statutory legislation appropriately to inform required decision making.Although the role holder has overall responsibility for Incident Control and Business Continuity within the Region, the post holder will often be required to reach across to support the wider team, and carry out other tasks to contribute towards the day to day running of the Estate. Including responding to customer enquiries, maintaining processes within the building, i.e., locker management, visitor process, maintaining signage etc and any other tasks directed by the Building Manager or Head of Estate to support the team.Essential Criteria:Responsible, organised and hold strong stakeholder engagement skills.Able to demonstrate substantial recent relevant experience of working in an incident management and / or business continuity role.The ability to handle difficult situations appropriately to deliver effective outcomes.If not already held, you must be willing to obtain Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) or equivalent Business Continuity qualification within 24 months of take up duty.TPBN1_UKTJ
