Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Science Engineer to join a dynamic data engineering team. This role focuses on solving complex data-centric challenges, promoting data-driven decision-making, and delivering high-impact solutions in a commercial environment. Applicants should be prepared to contribute across the full spectrum of data engineering and science activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and scale Data Science capabilities to drive business value
  • Address ethical and privacy considerations in data solutions
  • Translate business needs into impactful data science applications
  • Deliver complex solutions using machine learning and statistical techniques
  • Prepare, analyse, and present data in an accessible and effective manner
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to integrate data science outputs
  • Mentor peers and support internal capability development

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in Python, with additional coding language exposure (R, Java, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience with source/version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Strong database knowledge (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Proficiency with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, AWS Sagemaker, Azure ML
  • Competent in Python libraries like NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Matplotlib
  • Skilled in model testing, deployment, and data visualisation

Desirable Experience

  • Applying natural language processing (NLP)
  • Building recommender systems
  • Experimental design (e.g., A/B testing, RCTs)
  • Handling and leveraging customer data
