Manage a team of Adult Skills Referral and Progression Advisors to deliver a high-quality learner experience from initial engagement to exit. Meet learner start volume targets and progression outcome targets each month.

Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships promoting Maximus skills programmes that support people into employment.

Salary range - £37,500 to £42,500

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Management:

  • Manage Referral and Progression Advisors against contractual KPIs, attitude, team ethic, in order to ensure maximum performance levels are achieved.
  • Develop, implement and manage action plans at Referral and Progression Advisor level to remedy performance concerns.
  • Train/mentor/coach Referral and Progression Advisors to deliver high quality career and education information advice and guidance.
  • Manage process for learner engagement ensuring CIAG is delivered, start targets are met and retention on programme is maintained.
  • Mange an effective process for learners following course completion to support into employment, or further learning.
  • Manage processes and performance of Referral and Progression Advisor records are maintained, accurate and up to date.
  • Use MIS data to manage teams’ performance, tracking learner enrolment, caseloads, trends of engagement.

Partnership and Employer Engagement:

  • Lead a team to build and develop effective working relationships with a range of external agencies to provide individuals with opportunities to achieve their education/training and/or employment goals.
  • Actively identify opportunities with partner / employer organisations to drive engagement for starts and progression outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of professionals, agencies, employers and partners.
  • Represent Maximus professionally at sector events, external meetings and seminars, as required.
  • Manage and plan presence at engagement events to promote Maximus at internal and external stakeholder events.

Programme Development

  • Build collaborative working relations with Maximus Employer Services and employers to contribute to the development of learning programmes to support learners in to employment.
  • Work with delivery teams to implement and plan programmes to meet the needs of learners and employers.
  • Supporting Learners, Employers and Stakeholders:
  • Undertake regular and meaningful reviews, focus groups, forums with stakeholders to ensure programmes and meeting their needs.
  • Represent Maximus at employer, stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Keep knowledge up to date in sector and curriculum specialisms.

Staff Development:

  • Ensure that the CPD of staff in relation to occupational competence required for the delivery of the ASF programmes.
  • Participate in any staff review/performance management processes involving the identifying and meeting of training needs for self and others.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Adhere to Ofsted’s latest Education Inspection Framework and work towards being ‘Outstanding’ in all self-assessment/continuous improvement activities, teaching and learning, mock inspection(s) and actual inspection(s).
  • Work with Skills and Maximus quality teams to ensure policies and procedures are followed by team.
  • Work with MI and Administrative functions to ensure that funding paperwork and progress is captured and is robust for audit and inspection requirements.
  • Observations of IAG, are met in line with company objectives and striving for outstanding working with Curriculum and Quality teams.

Key Contacts & Relationships:

Internal

  • Work as a key member of the team
  • Continuous contact and relations with all operational colleagues
  • Contact at times with representatives within other MAXIMUS operating divisions e.g. Central Division.

External

  • Employers, agencies and other stakeholders e.g JCPs, Business Networks, Awar ding bodies.

Essential

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience of working in FE in an learner/employer engagement role.
  • Knowledge of FE /Skills sector.
  • Experience of building a strong network of referrals.
  • English and Maths to at least Functional Skills level 2
  • Management qualification at least level 3
  • Contribute to developing curriculum / learning programmes that meet the needs of employers and learners.

Desirable

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS or equivalent).
  • Level 3 Award Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement or equivalent.

Individual Competencies

Essential

  • Previous experience of managing a team of Referral and Progression Advisors (Learner engagement teams).
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and direct diverse teams towards achieving operational excellence.
  • IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes to include 365 products and modern digital technologies, i.e. Microsoft Teams
  • A track record of managing and supporting colleagues and learners face-to-face and remotely.
  • Proven track record of working with unemployed people on programmes that facilitate positive outcomes (e.g. sustainable job outcomes, further education, volunteering)
  • Ability to plan and organise own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a pro-active ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Positive attitude, working on solutions and not building barriers.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of forging strong relationships with Internal & External Stakeholders.
  • Experience of delivering services to meet contractual and quality standards.
  • Able to meet and exceed start, retention and achievement targets for qualifications and progression outcomes.
  • Ability to manage learner numbers in line with budgets and delivery profiles.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Planning training to be delivered face-to-face (at Maximus site or employer/outreach premises) and/or online (e.g. webinars)
  • To work flexibly as required, which may require some working during evenings and weekends.
  • Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post
  • Comply with all Maximus policies and procedures including all statutory responsibilities; including and not limited to Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Desirable

  • Experience of Ofsted inspections as a support role.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel and work across Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield (Essential)
  • Full driving license and vehicle owner (Desirable)
