Afrikindness is looking for a passionate and strategic individual to join our Executive Board as the lead for Fundraising and Corporate partnership.
What difference will you make?
As a Fundraiser for Afrikindness, a charity supporting children and their families on character development and addressing issues that affect marginally racialized communities, your role will make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve. Afrikindness would benefit from your help to raise the fundraising & partnership's key objective to the next level, developing and broadening the base of partners, connections, and expertise from organizations involved in a similar purpose and increasing our financial base so we can make more impact globally. Your leadership will directly support our mission to empower children, parents, and communities by ensuring we have the financial resources to deliver high-impact programmes. From neurodiversity support to cultural education and mental health workshops, your efforts will fuel transformative change.
What are we looking for?
Key Responsibilities Lead and develop Afrikindness’ fundraising strategy. Research and write high-quality grant applications to foundations and trusts. Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective corporate partners. Support the creation of fundraising campaigns and donor communications. Collaborate with programme leads to ensure funding proposals align with project goals. Monitor funding trends and provide insight to guide income diversification. Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with corporate partners to secure sponsorships, donations, and in-kind support aligned with the organisation’s mission and values. Develop and present compelling partnership proposals that demonstrate mutual value, while maintaining ongoing communication to ensure successful collaboration and long-term engagement. Skills & Experience Required Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or development in the charity or nonprofit sector. Strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different funders. Proven ability to secure grants or build partnerships. Strategic thinking and planning ability. Passion for equity, inclusion, and empowering underserved communities. Key Deliverables Crafting Persuasive Bid Proposals Researching and Identifying Funding Opportunities Building Relationships and Networking - Global connections Creative Fundraising Initiatives/strategy to increase funding
What will you be doing?
As Executive Board Member for Fundraising & Grant Writing, you will drive the charity’s income generation efforts. This includes identifying grant opportunities, writing compelling funding proposals, and cultivating relationships with corporate partners and donors. You will play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding our work across the UK and Africa. The fundraiser role will also lead on developing strategic corporate partnerships, building mutually beneficial relationships with businesses to secure sponsorships, in-kind support, and long-term funding opportunities that align with Afrikindness’ mission and values. You will take a leading role in liaising with partners to develop the connections and the opportunities they present, helping us to develop as an organization towards reaching our financial goals. This will also involve approaching businesses, local authorities, global organisations, and individuals to encourage donations; researching grant-making organisations, writing grants & applying for funding; organising and helping with fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events. Capacity, Commitment, and Connections are key for this role. Note - The role will involve leading a team, so the responsibilites are shared.
