They are passionate about contributing to the UK's transition to clean energy and are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Design Manager to join our team in Leeds.

  • Conduct regular project reviews to identify and mitigate technical risks and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including G99/G100, ENA, DNO, and relevant Health & Safety requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the project management team, contributing to project planning, resource allocation, and cost management.
  • Participate in tendering and proposal processes by providing technical input, scope development, and estimation for new projects.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of design processes, implementing best practices and industry advancements.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities for junior engineers and design staff, fostering a high-performance culture.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree or Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical/design management role, preferably within the ICP or EPC sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience with the design, management, and delivery of high-voltage electrical connections, substations, and associated infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory and industry standards for electrical connections (G99, G100, ENA, and DNO requirements).
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Power Systems Analysis tools) and experience with design documentation management.
  • Proven track record of leading design teams and collaborating with project management and client stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Experience with hybrid working environments and the flexibility to travel for project site visits when required.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes and tools.
