Planner

Location: Leeds

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a top-20 UK planning consultancy in their search for a planner or senior planner. With a team of 50+ town planners across their six regional hubs, they also provide complementary socio-economic, heritage, master planning and architectural services. They are seeking an ambitious planner to join the North West team to help drive forward projects and support business development activities.

Specialising in coordinating, project managing, and auditing planning applications, they offer expert guidance on a wide range of issues including EIA development, urban regeneration, strategic planning, and commercial/retail planning. Leveraging our extensive experience, they negotiate with local planning authorities to secure permissions for our clients.

Candidates will have a:

  • Relevant Planning qualification
  • Membership of RTPI or working towards membership
  • An understanding of the planning process and systems
  • Excellent writing skills with a strong eye for detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly approachable manner
  • Drive, commitment, enthusiastic and a team player approach

What does the role involve?

  • Advising on development potential of land and buildings
  • Assisting with preparing planning applications and appeals
  • Providing policy advice and research
  • Drafting representations to plan consultations and examinations
  • Assisting in identify land opportunities
  • Working with clients and other consultants to deliver development
  • Supporting business development activities

The successful candidate will be involved in projects from the outside, working closely with colleagues, clients, and other consultants, to manage schemes from initial advice and early design stages, right through to achieving consent and discharge of conditions and planning obligations. There will be opportunities to support and be actively involved in Planning Appeals and Local Plan Examinations.
