VAT Analyst

Leeds / Hybrid - 3 days per week office based (LS15 8ZB)

The VAT Analyst is responsible for supporting the accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns and other indirect tax filings. The role involves analysing transaction data, ensuring compliance with VAT laws, and supporting internal teams with VAT-related queries for the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare VAT returns, Intrastat’s and EC Sales Lists in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate with external advisors on the submission of EU VAT returns
  • Review transactional data to ensure correct VAT treatment across sales and purchases.
  • Reconcile VAT accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual items.
  • Assist with VAT audits and respond to queries from tax authorities.
  • Support the implementation of VAT compliance tools and automation processes.
  • Liaise with internal departments (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement) to resolve VAT-related issues.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records in accordance with tax authority requirements.
  • Support the Tax Manager in tax planning and risk management activities.

Some Of The Skills And Experience You'll Bring

  • Knowledge of VAT rules and regulations
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with tax technology and automation tools e.g. Alteryx
  • Experience with EU VAT
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
