A fantastic opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Site Manager to join a well-established and respected regional main contractor operating across Yorkshire and the North of England.

With a renowned reputation, this contractor specialises in the successful completion of new build projects, typically ranging from £1 million to £35 million, across a diverse mix of sectors. Current and upcoming schemes include high-rise residential blocks, commercial offices, industrial units, schools, colleges, healthcare facilities, and other public sector buildings.

Due to a robust and growing order book, they are now looking to appoint an accomplished Site Manager with proven experience in managing complex new build projects from groundworks through to handover.

Role Overview

As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations on site, reporting directly to the Project Manager. You will ensure the highest standards of health & safety, programme delivery, subcontractor coordination, and quality control, always representing the business professionally.

You will be supported by a strong team including engineers, site supervisors, and commercial staff, and you'll have the opportunity to work on flagship developments within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all site-based activities for major new build construction projects
  • Ensure full compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and in-house trades to meet programme milestones
  • Maintain accurate site records, reporting, and documentation
  • Lead daily site briefings, toolbox talks, and progress meetings
  • Work collaboratively with the design and commercial teams to resolve issues and drive efficiencies
  • Manage site logistics, deliveries, plant, and labour resources effectively
  • Monitor and maintain build quality, ensuring compliance with design and specification

What They're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Site Manager within main contracting
  • Demonstrable experience delivering new build projects valued over £10 million
  • Strong sector experience in one or more of: residential (high-rise), commercial, industrial, education, healthcare
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a hands-on, proactive approach
  • Strong knowledge of construction programmes, sequencing, and site logistics
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid at Work - all essential
  • Full UK driving licence
