Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

Overview
A regional civil engineering contractor is seeking a capable and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Leeds. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of a variety of infrastructure schemes, including highways, drainage, earthworks, and public realm works
This is a hands-on role that involves supporting live projects, maintaining cost control, and working collaboratively with site delivery teams to ensure financial targets are achieved
Main Responsibilities
Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
Subcontract procurement and administration in line with programme timelines and company processes
Attendance at project and subcontractor meetings, contributing to commercial and programme discussions
Assessment and certification of subcontractor payments, including issuing payment and withholding notices
Agreement of subcontractor final accounts
Measurement and valuation of works both on-site and from technical drawings
Evaluation of variations and monitoring of provisional sums and change items
Assistance with weekly direct labour and plant payment processes as required
Material cost tracking and reporting
Production of internal cost reports, CVRs, and subcontract liabilities in line with reporting deadlines
Work closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to track progress, budget preliminaries, and identify commercial risks or delays
Maintain accurate project records and documentation to support commercial positions
Support the timely identification and notification of delays or compensation events in coordination with commercial management

Experience & Qualifications
HND, degree, or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline
Previous experience in civil engineering or infrastructure-based projects (e.g., roads, utilities, earthworks)
Familiarity with NEC and/or bespoke civil engineering contracts
Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
Competent in subcontractor management and contractual correspondence
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and industry-standard software
Full UK driving licence (occasional travel to local sites required)
