Location: Leeds (with hybrid and UK-wide flexibility)

Salary: £67,000 – £76,000 per annum

Overview

Our client, a specialist digital consultancy, is seeking a Lead Data Architect to design and implement modern data solutions for large-scale organisations. This role will support multi-disciplinary delivery teams and lead architecture initiatives focused on cloud platforms, governance, and high-impact analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Define data architecture solutions aligned with organisational and enterprise-wide strategies.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation, including data models, dictionaries, ETL/ELT specifications, and data pipeline diagrams.
• Lead change control and governance practices to ensure integrity of design outputs.
• Advocate for data warehousing modelling standards (e.g. Kimball methodology).
• Analyse source data quality, evaluate API capabilities, and reverse-engineer data models.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to build Agile stories and support development processes.
• Assist with data integration, reconciliation testing, and third-party specification alignment.
• Produce visual data insights using reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Candidate Profile

• Proven track record in designing scalable data architectures across stakeholder groups.
• Experience with data lake and warehouse platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks).
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep understanding of data privacy, access control, and security implementation.
• Expertise in OLTP/OLAP design, data modelling, SQL, and data migration.
• Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools including Power BI (DAX), Tableau, and SQL Server tools (SSMS, SSIS, SSRS).
• Consultancy experience and data pipeline design skills are highly desirable.
