FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to work for our client within the IT consultancy sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leeds.
Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join its Cloud Operations Team and drive forward their support capability to deliver high-performing solutions to their clients. Based in a brand new purpose-built office in Leeds city centre, you will join a forward-thinking organisation that prioritises your personal development.
You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for, implementing, managing and maintaining cloud solutions for prestigious clients. You will leverage your expertise in Azure and Infrastructure as Code to deliver robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and the chance to work on some of the largest, most complex and technically innovative programmes in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Deliver infrastructure and cloud solutions in line with client requirements and project demands
- Design, build, and maintain Azure environments to support business applications and services
- Deploy and manage Azure virtual machines (VMs) for various workloads
- Configure and maintain Azure networking components, including virtual networks, subnets, and network security groups
- Create and manage Azure Storage Accounts for secure and scalable data storage
- Manage user access and permissions using Azure Active Directory and role-based access control (RBAC)
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for consistent and repeatable deployments
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including system health checks and performance tuning
- Carry out patching and update management across cloud resources and virtual machines
- Respond to and manage system events and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact
- Set up and monitor infrastructure metrics and logs, ensuring visibility into system performance
- Monitor and manage capacity and memory usage to ensure optimal resource utilisation
- Identify and implement continual service improvements to enhance system performance and reliability
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years' experience with Azure cloud services, including advanced resource management, networking, and security implementations
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies in enterprise environments, ability to create and modify infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues in production environments
- Experience in at least one scripting/programming language (PowerShell, Python, Bash) with demonstrable complex automation implementations
- Experience implementing robust monitoring solutions and advanced alerting strategies
- Strong background in cloud security principles and implementation of security controls in Azure environments
- Experience mentoring team mates and contributing to team knowledge growth
- Strong analytical mindset with exceptional problem-solving abilities
- Must be willing to do UK-based travel for projects
- Must be eligible for SC Clearance
