Job Overview

As a Senior Detox Worker, you will play a key role within the Forward Leeds Detox Team, ensuring the holistic needs of individuals with alcohol dependency are effectively supported throughout their treatment journey. You will advocate on behalf of service users, working to address both their health and social care needs while promoting a person-centred, trauma-informed approach to care.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external agencies, actively building and maintaining strong partnerships to enhance service delivery. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a commitment to responsive, high-quality care are essential, as you will be part of a dynamic team working across multiple sites.

Your Responsibilities Will Also Include

  • Leading by example in embedding trauma-informed best practices across the detox service.
  • Supporting the professional development and wellbeing of staff through supervision and mentoring, in line with organisational policy and compliance requirements.
  • Assisting the team manager and contributing to regular multidisciplinary team (MDT) and lead practitioner meetings.
  • Supporting continuous improvement by contributing to service development across the city and strengthening collaborative partnerships.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff employed within your service are developed, supervised, supported, and managed in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Provide support to the detox team including supervision and appraisals.
  • Model reflective practice within the team’s day to day work.
  • Take charge of a specialist detox case load and mentor a team.
  • To work with the Service Manager and Team Manager to ensure that the outcomes and targets agreed by the partnership are met.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively within the team, workplace, the organisation and with other agencies (including positively contributing to team meetings).
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and appropriate records in accordance with the organisations confidentiality policy and to be able to provide information and reports when requested.
  • Ensure that safeguarding concerns are acted on in line with our policies and procedures by understanding and adhering to the principles of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as and when required.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring that all staff employed within your service are developed, supervised, supported, and managed in an appropriate and professional manner.

  • Provide support to the detox team including supervision and appraisals.
  • Model reflective practice within the team’s day to day work.
  • Take charge of a specialist detox case load and mentor a team.
  • To work with the Service Manager and Team Manager to ensure that the outcomes and targets agreed by the partnership are met.
  • To monitor and analyse the work being completed. To provide monthly reports and reviews of the work. Identify area of concerns and gaps in service provision.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively within the team, workplace, the organisation and with other agencies (including positively contributing to team meetings).
  • To prioritise workload by addressing the greatest needs whilst managing and meeting other demands.
  • To work within established care pathways and referral procedures set out by Forward Leeds including partner agencies.
  • Ensuring that clients’ rights are respected and that their views and wishes are adequately represented in the care planning and support process.
  • Responsible for maximising opportunities for client participation and co-production.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and appropriate records in accordance with the organisations confidentiality policy and to be able to provide information and reports when requested.
  • Ensure that safeguarding concerns are acted on in line with our policies and procedures by understanding and adhering to the principles of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
  • Taking responsibility for your own personal development and training needs, based on the service objective.
  • To seek out and explore areas of development for the service and improving the care provided to our service users.
  • To participate in formal supervisions, peer supervisions and practice reflection sessions.
  • To work alongside volunteers and, where necessary, provide support and supervision.
  • Understanding the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace and taking responsibility for implementing it.
  • Adhere to the principles of Information Governance, ensuring the security and safety of premises, equipment, records, and resources.
  • Work within the Policies and Procedures of St Annes Community Services and Forward Leeds; and to National standards of NICE, CQC and other governing bodies.
  • To always ensure professional conduct when representing the service; ensuring ID badges are always worn.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as and when required.

Person specification

Experience

Desirable criteria

  • At least 2 years experience in Social Care
  • Full UK Driving License
  • At least 2 years experience in leadership and management
