ServiceNow Application Engineer | Hybrid | Permanent | £55,000
A large not-for-profit organisation in Yorkshire is transforming how it delivers technology across its operations. As part of a significant investment in its engineering capability, it's looking for a ServiceNow Application Engineer to take genuine ownership of the platform — not just maintain it.
This isn't a support role with a developer label on it. You'll be designing, building, and delivering end-to-end solutions, driving integrations with external systems, and acting as the technical authority on ServiceNow across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. If you're motivated by work that has real social purpose behind it, this is a team where that matters.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and configuring ServiceNow solutions — workflows, business rules, forms, script includes, and service catalogue items — that meet real business requirements
- Building and maintaining integrations with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and Integration Hub
- Translating requirements into deliverable work items with accurate estimates and clear dependencies
- Owning L3 support for priority incidents, including vendor escalation where needed
- Contributing to platform health, release management, and upgrade planning
- Collaborating with change, delivery, data, and business stakeholder teams to ensure solutions land properly
- Feeding into the ServiceNow roadmap and keeping pace with new platform capabilities
- Supporting QA activities including unit, integration, and automated testing
What you'll bring
- Solid hands-on scripting experience — JavaScript, Glide APIs (GlideRecord, GlideSystem), Business Rules, Script Includes
- Experience across one or more core modules: ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, or CSM
- Proven integration delivery using REST/SOAP and ideally Integration Hub or platforms such as Azure, Boomi, or Apache
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes — Incident, Problem, Change, and CMDB
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and source control
- The ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CAD, or module-specific) are a strong advantage
What's on offer
- £55,000 base salary
- Hybrid working with a Leeds base — flexibility built in from day one
- A substantive engineering role within a large-scale, multi-year transformation programme
- Work that contributes to genuine social purpose within a well-established not-for-profit
- A collaborative team environment with real scope to contribute to roadmap, standards, and practice development
If you're a ServiceNow developer looking for a role with genuine platform ownership rather than a support-heavy brief, we'd like to hear from you.
