Lead Buyer - Leeds - £40,000 - £50,000

Elevation Recruitment Group is proud to be partnering exclusively with a well-established engineering business in Leeds, which is looking to recruit an experienced Lead Buyer to join their team.

This role will suit someone who comes from an engineering/technical manufacturing background, who has previously worked from technical drawings, and has the ambition to develop into a Purchasing Manager.

Working Hours / Benefits:

• 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with a 1pm finish every Friday!

The Role

• Overseeing procurement across bought-out components, electrical items, and subcontracted services
• Leading supplier relationships and acting as the primary escalation point for supplier issues
• Identifying and reporting cost-saving opportunities
• Allocating workload across the team and supporting, mentoring, and developing the Buyers
• Developing and implementing standardised purchasing processes and controls
• Acting as the key point of contact between Purchasing and internal functions, including Production, Stores, Design Engineering, and Accounts

The Person

• Proven experience in a senior procurement role, ideally within an engineering/technical manufacturing environment
• Strong supplier negotiation skills and a track record of delivering cost savings
• The ability to develop and implement purchasing processes and drive compliance
• A clear and proactive communication style, able to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Experience mentoring or coordinating a team
• A structured approach to reporting, documentation, and audit readiness
