Post-16 Teaching Assistant
Sense Education are working in partnership with a SEND Sixth Form, currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Post-16 Teaching Assistant to support learners aged 16-19 with special educational needs and disabilities.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about preparing young people for independent living, employability and adulthood through structured, practical support.
Within This Role, You Will:
- Support students with SEND in life skills and functional learning sessions
- Assist learners with daily living skills such as personal care, travel training and money management
- Encourage confidence, self-advocacy and emotional regulation
- Support students during work experience, vocational activities and community-based learning
- Work closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals to implement EHCP outcomes
- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs
The Ideal Candidate:
- Understands or is willing to learn about Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs
- Is patient, compassionate and confident supporting young people with varying levels of independence
- Can build positive, professional relationships with learners
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities
Location – Leeds
Role Type: Full Time/ Part Time/ Temp – Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Working Hours
Term-time only
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
