SEN Case Officer - #2109303

I am currently working with a Local Authority who are seeking a dedicated SEN Casework Officer to support the fulfilment of the Local Authority’s responsibilities in relation to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans, and reviews. This role is crucial in managing the EHC needs assessment and review processes for children and young people across the city.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Serve as the named officer for a caseload covering at least two areas of specialism, which may include Early Years, Primary School Age Children, Secondary School Age Children & Preparation for Adulthood, Post-16 and NEET Prevention, and Vulnerable Groups.
• Work restoratively with children, young people, and families to secure positive holistic outcomes and engage directly with school and systems leaders.
• Provide support flexibly within the service in line with key priorities and pressures.
• Collaborate with other services to ensure a holistic assessment and a coordinated robust assessment process for families.
• Make independent judgements about complex cases and discuss solutions with families and young people.
• Prepare and amend EHC plans in line with the SEND Regulations 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015.
• Represent the Local Authority in the EHC plan review process as required.
• Organise and chair meetings and restorative conciliation meetings to prevent complaints and appeals.
