We are working with a Local Authority who are seeking a proactive and dedicated Lead SEN Casework Officer. This role is instrumental in managing and supervising a small team dedicated to enhancing the educational outcomes for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
This role is offered on a hybrid basis.
Role Summary:
As the Lead SEN Casework Officer, you will be responsible for the line management and supervision of a very small team, ensuring high standards of practice and compliance with statutory requirements. You will oversee the entire statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) process, including referral, assessment, and annual review for children and young people. Additionally, you will handle a small caseload and lead mediations to resolve disputes effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a Senior Caseworker role or similar
- Extensive knowledge of the statutory frameworks surrounding SEND, including the Children and Families Act 2014.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage both people and processes effectively.
- Excellent communication, mediation, and interpersonal skills, capable of handling sensitive situations diplomatically.
