Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a well established heavy engineering and manufacturing business in Leeds, who are looking to appoint a Head of Production to lead production, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement and facilities across the site.

This is a senior leadership appointment reporting into the Operations Director, with a seat on the Senior Leadership Team and responsibility for deputising in the Operations Director's absence. It goes beyond day to day production management. You will own the transformation agenda: building out a proper Management Operating System, driving lean and continuous flow methodologies, and improving ERP data quality to support OTIF and inventory performance.

Working Hours: Days based, Monday to Friday

Salary: £80,000 to £90,000

Duties of the Head of Production will include:

  • Owning EHS and regulatory compliance across the production and manufacturing engineering areas
  • Deploying quality policy and leading quality improvement programmes, with direct accountability for production quality
  • Executing the production plan and reporting daily on throughput
  • Managing the efficiency and effectiveness of the direct workforce, and controlling wider operational costs
  • Building and embedding an integrated Management Operating System, including visual management, SQDCC reporting and A3 improvement activity
  • Driving continuous flow and materials flow methodologies across the shop floor
  • Improving EFACS ERP deployment and MRP data quality alongside Supply Chain and Procurement, to support OTIF and inventory targets
  • Developing a preventative maintenance programme for key equipment and facilities, and owning overall MRO

Requirements of the Head of Production:

  • Manufacturing or production engineering degree, or equivalent experience
  • Lean manufacturing certification (essential)
  • 6 Sigma Green Belt (desirable)
  • 5+ years leading production and manufacturing transformations (essential)
  • Proficient user of MRP or ERP systems, ideally with recent implementation experience
  • Project management experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely (NEBOSH desirable)
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, comfortable engaging people at all levels
  • Sound data analysis, planning and organisational skills

This role is commutable from Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, Dewsbury, Otley, Wetherby and Harrogate.

Suited candidates previously hold roles such as Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Head of Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement Manager, Engineering Manager and Production Director.
