An opportunity to make a difference

At Border to Coast our purpose is to make a difference and we’re looking for a keen Investment Analyst (Alternatives) to join our award-winning team.

The successful candidate would join our Alternatives team, which manages investments across our Infrastructure, Private Equity, Private Credit, Global Real Estate, Climate Opportunities and UK Opportunities programmes.

As a customer-owned and customer-focused organisation, integrity is one of our values, as is our collaborative and sustainable approach. Our focus is to secure the pensions of over a million people who have provided valuable service to their communities and society. We’re the largest UK asset manager outside London or Edinburgh, and we provide innovative investments that deliver sustainable returns over the long term.

The role – what you’ll be doing

As an Investment Analyst (Alternatives) your role is hugely important and will include:

  1. Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of extensive due diligence reports to support investment decision making and portfolio construction using internal and external sources of data and research
  2. Undertake research and perform initial due diligence on investment opportunities as directed
  3. Consider ESG, climate change and RI risk factors into account when conducting investment analysis, due diligence and decision making
  4. Provision of data analysis to support the ongoing monitoring of investments
  5. Provision of data analysis to support the regular production of management information (MI) such as the performance, attribution, exposure and risk metrics of the sub-fund/portfolio
  6. Active participation in investment team meetings including across teams, contribute to investment thought leadership, and participate in broader collaboration across the organisation
  7. Engage with existing third party service providers including advisers, consultants, and research provider where necessary
  8. Identify risks in own area of responsibility, recognise risks in all areas of the business and notify any such risks to your People Manager and the Operational Risk Manager

About you - and the value you’ll bring to our team

Essential

  1. Relevant experience in investment research, due diligence, or a related analytical environment
  2. Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  3. Ability to distil a wide range of often conflicting information in a concise and cohesive manner
  4. High levels of integrity and trustworthiness
  5. Strong analytical and data handling skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.

Desirable

  1. Have a suitable investment management qualification, are currently working towards this or intend to do so. We will provide support and funding for relevant professional qualifications
  2. Collaborate with others to generate investment ideas, refine processes, and share constructive feedback
  3. Ability to present investment ideas for internal peer review and challenge
  4. Experience or knowledge of private markets

We recognise that people from different backgrounds may be less likely to apply unless they meet every requirement. If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every point, we'd still love to hear from you.

Why join Border to Coast?

At Border to Coast, you will receive competitive remuneration and have access to excellent benefits:

  1. Vitality Health Insurance for all employees
  2. Employee Assistance Programme
  3. A generous holiday allowance of 30 days a year, plus bank holidays
  4. Professional Development including the opportunity to gain fully funded qualifications (e.g. IMC)
  5. Critical Illness Cover
  6. Pension scheme
  7. Stunning Leeds city centre location only a short walk to the train station
  8. Cycle to work scheme
