LMA Recruitment

We are looking for an experienced Lead Python Developer specialising in Python to join our delivery team. This is a hands on role focused on building, enhancing, and supporting production applications in complex environments. The successful candidate will have strong practical development experience and be comfortable working within public sector programmes, collaborating closely with delivery, product, and data teams to deliver reliable, secure solutions.
Experience working in UK public sector environments is required.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Core Python and web frameworks such as Flask.
* Build and maintain front end components using VueJS, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to deliver usable and accessible interfaces.
* Develop and optimise SQL databases to support application functionality and reporting needs.
* Implement and support cloud hosted solutions using AWS core services and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
* Work with Docker and serverless components as part of application deployment and runtime environments.
* Integrate applications with upstream and downstream systems, and troubleshoot issues across the stack.
* Contribute to data analysis and basic visualisation to support operational insight and application monitoring.
* Apply established development practices and patterns pragmatically, focusing on maintainability, performance, and reliability rather than complex architectural design.

Qualifications
* Hands on software development experience, with a strong focus on Python and web based applications.
* Solid experience with front end technologies including Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
* Proven experience designing and working with SQL databases in delivery environments.
* Practical experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS, using infrastructure as code approaches.
* Experience working in Agile delivery teams, with a pragmatic understanding of Agile ceremonies and practices.
* Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
* Ability to work from defined requirements and user stories, contributing to solution refinement as needed.
