If you work in credit control but don't fancy spending your entire day relentlessly chasing overdue invoices, this one might appeal.

It's a broad role that sits somewhere between credit control, accounts administration and customer service. Yes, there'll be debt to chase, but there's also plenty of investigating, problem-solving and keeping accounts running as they should.

What will you be doing?

  • Keeping on top of outstanding balances and speaking to clients to agree when payment can be expected
  • Getting to the bottom of invoice queries and payment discrepancies rather than simply sending another chaser
  • Working with teams across the business to resolve issues that are holding up payment
  • Keeping client accounts tidy, investigating unusual balances and making sure anything outstanding is dealt with
  • Producing regular reports so the team has an accurate picture of transactions and overdue debt
  • Setting up and maintaining Direct Debit arrangements and helping with the associated monthly reporting
  • Processing card payments from clients over the phone
  • Arranging bank payments back to clients when money needs to be returned

What do you need?

You don't need to have done this exact job before, but some experience in credit control, accounts receivable, finance administration or a similar accounts environment would give you a good grounding.

You'll need to be:

  • Comfortable speaking to clients about outstanding money
  • Confident chasing payment while still providing a good level of customer service
  • Naturally organised and able to keep on top of a busy workload
  • Good at investigating problems and figuring out why something doesn't add up
  • Accurate when dealing with payments, accounts and financial information
  • Happy working with different teams to get queries resolved

What's on offer?

  • Salary of around £27,000
  • 35-hour working week
  • A genuine 9am-5pm
  • Hybrid working after probation
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Leeds city centre location
