About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and commercially minded Events Manager to join a busy and growing events operation in Leeds.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering exceptional events and outstanding customer experiences. You will take ownership of events from the initial enquiry and proposal stage through to delivery and post-event follow-up, ensuring every detail is managed to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable managing clients, suppliers and event teams as they are developing new business and converting enquiries into confirmed bookings.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day planning and delivery of a wide range of events.
- Take client briefs and translate them into clear, achievable event plans.
- Manage events from initial enquiry through to delivery and post-event evaluation.
- Build strong and lasting relationships with clients, ensuring their requirements are understood and exceeded wherever possible.
- Produce detailed event proposals, including timings, staffing, suppliers, budgets and operational requirements.
- Take full responsibility for event budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within agreed costs while maintaining healthy margins.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, priorities and action plans.
- Coordinate venues, caterers, contractors, suppliers, equipment hire and other third parties.
- Manage event staffing requirements, team briefings and on-the-day operations.
- Attend off-site meetings, venue inspections and external events where required.
- Ensure all events comply with relevant health and safety, licensing and legal requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and professionally during events.
- Oversee event set-up, delivery and breakdown, ensuring venues are left efficiently and to the required standard.
- Conduct post-event reviews and produce reports and recommendations where appropriate.
- Provide leadership, motivation and support to event staff and wider operational teams.
- Ensure consistently high standards of service, presentation and customer experience.
This role has a significant sales and business development element.
You will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building relationships with prospective clients and converting enquiries into confirmed events.
Responsibilities will include:
- Responding to and following up event enquiries.
- Identifying opportunities to generate new business and increase revenue.
- Researching markets and identifying potential clients and event opportunities.
- Developing and presenting proposals, pitches and credentials presentations.
- Building relationships with new and existing clients.
- Maximising opportunities to upsell additional services and event requirements.
- Managing the sales process from initial enquiry through to confirmed booking.
- Delivering a professional, warm and engaging client experience throughout the process.
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and commercially aware, with a genuine passion for events and hospitality.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in event management, hospitality, venue management, account management or a similar client-facing role.
- A strong track record of delivering successful events from concept through to completion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A warm, professional and engaging manner.
- Strong sales and business development experience, with the ability to convert enquiries into revenue.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets.
- The confidence to manage clients, suppliers and event teams.
- A proactive, resilient and self-motivated approach.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and general administrative systems.
- The flexibility and commitment required to work evenings, weekends and varied hours when events demand it.
- A strong team-player mentality and willingness to support colleagues across the wider operation.
- Personal License
- First Aid qualification
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
