The Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations and reporting activities within the retail sector. Based in Leeds, this 12-month fixed-term contract offers the chance to contribute to the smooth running of the company's accounting and finance functions.

Description

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Reconcile balance sheets and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other compliance documentation.
• Provide financial insights and data to support decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Assist in year-end audit preparations and liaise with external auditors.
• Handle ad hoc financial reporting tasks as required.

Profile

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

• Experience in a similar accounting or finance role, ideally within the retail industry.
• Strong knowledge of management accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel for financial analysis.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively.

Job Offer

• Salary between £35,000 and £37,000, dependent on the level of experience.
