A well-established and highly respected Leeds law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Legal Secretary to join its expanding Family Law Department.
This is a newly created position due to continued growth within the team, providing an excellent opportunity for a skilled Legal Secretary seeking a long-term role within a supportive and friendly environment.
About the Firm
With a team of approximately 16-17 staff across several legal disciplines, the firm has built a strong reputation throughout West Yorkshire. While Criminal Law remains its largest department, the Family Law team is experiencing significant growth and continues to attract new work.
The successful candidate will support two Family Solicitors and a Paralegal, working alongside two part-time Legal Secretaries within a collaborative team environment.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence and documents
- Preparing court bundles and legal documentation
- Diary management and appointment scheduling
- Liaising with clients, courts and third parties
- Opening and closing client files
- General administration and secretarial support
- Managing incoming calls and correspondence
- Updating case management systems
- Supporting fee earners with the progression of cases
About You
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary
- Family Law experience (preferred but not essential)
- Excellent audio typing and document production skills
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- Professional, empathetic and confident communication skills
- The ability to manage a busy and varied workload
- Excellent attention to detail
Salary & Benefits
- £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
- Higher salaries available for candidates with strong Family Law experience
- 37.5-hour working week
- Flexible start and finish times:
- 8:30am - 5:00pm
- 9:00am - 5:30pm
- 9:30am - 6:00pm
- 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
- Additional Christmas office closure (typically increasing total annual leave to around 23 days plus Bank Holidays)

Working Pattern
This is a fully office-based position. Flexible start and finish times are available, although the chosen working pattern should be maintained once agreed.
