My client is a leading organisation seeking an experienced Legal Counsel - Litigation to join its UK legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced disputes lawyer with strong construction expertise to provide strategic, commercially focused advice across the business.

The Role
As Legal Counsel - Litigation (12M FTC), you will be responsible for providing focused and strategic litigation and dispute resolution advice to senior management and business stakeholders across the UK business.
The role will involve managing and resolving a broad range of construction-related disputes, while providing practical, commercially sensible advice that enables the business to make cost-effective and strategic decisions at an early stage.
- Provide strategic litigation and dispute resolution advice across the UK business and its divisions.
- Manage a wide range of construction-related disputes, including defects, delay and disruption, loss and expense, variations claims and payment disputes.
- Advise on withholding and final account claims, statutory adjudications and alternative dispute resolution under contractual mechanisms.
- Provide clear, commercially focused advice on legal risk and dispute strategy.
- Work closely with senior management and business stakeholders, developing strong relationships built on trust and respect.
- Support the business in reducing external legal spend and ensuring the effective use of legal resources.
- Manage external legal counsel and negotiate cost-effective fee arrangements.
- Deliver legal training to the wider business on an ad hoc and structured basis.
- Work across multiple divisions, managing a varied and complex workload within tight deadlines.
- Provide independent legal advice while balancing multiple commercial pressures and business priorities.
- England and Wales Solicitor with a minimum of 6 years' PQE.
- Significant experience in litigation and alternative dispute resolution
- Excellent knowledge and experience of construction-related disputes
- Strong knowledge of construction legislation, including the Construction Act and CDM Regulations
- Excellent knowledge of the suite of construction contracts
