Family Legal Secretary – Leeds / Huddersfield / Barnsley / South Elmsall
QED Legal is working with a well-established and growing Yorkshire law firm looking to add an experienced Legal Secretary to its Family Law team.
The role can be based from Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley or South Elmsall, giving you a good degree of flexibility around location. There will initially be around two weeks of training from the Barnsley office to help you settle into the team and the firm’s systems.
This is a genuinely close-knit Family team where the support staff are very much considered part of the wider department. The team meets face-to-face each month and they are looking for somebody who enjoys being part of a friendly, collaborative environment rather than simply sitting behind a desk processing work.
Given the nature of Family Law, personality matters too. You will regularly be dealing with clients who may be going through particularly difficult periods in their lives, so empathy, patience and a good telephone manner are every bit as important as strong secretarial skills.
Day to day, you will support the Family lawyers with typing and digital dictation, arranging appointments, speaking with clients and solicitors, opening matters, working with the case management system and helping the wider administration team keep the department running efficiently.
Previous experience within a Family Law department would be ideal, although the firm will consider people with closely related legal secretarial experience. You should be organised, comfortable managing work for several fee earners, able to prioritise a busy workload and confident using your own initiative.
In return, the firm offers a competitive salary depending on experience alongside hybrid working, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, additional holiday for long service, your birthday off, two half-day Life Admin Days, a health scheme, pension and regular firm social events.
Most importantly, this is a firm that places real emphasis on work/life balance and creating an enjoyable working environment.
For further information, please contact Jill McCartney at QED Legal for a confidential discussion.
