Senior Engineer / Consultant - Civil Engineering / Flood Risk
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Leeds, London and Manchester
Type: Permanent, hybrid

About the Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Engineer / Consultant with experience in civil engineering and/or flood risk management to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK.

You will work across government agency, water company, local authority and private sector projects, supporting schemes from early appraisal through to detailed design and delivery.

The role involves working closely with delivery partners, technical specialists and stakeholders to help ensure projects progress effectively and technical solutions are robust, practical and deliverable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of civil engineering and flood risk projects across a varied portfolio.
  • Contribute to technical approvals and respond to site and design queries.
  • Develop and support high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Assist with project and programme controls, including risk registers, action trackers, decision logs and governance reporting.
  • Support technical decision-making through workshops and option testing.
  • Coordinate with delivery partners, technical specialists and stakeholders.
  • Support technical reviews and construction-stage activities.
  • Identify and escalate project issues appropriately.
  • Contribute to lessons learned, best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Support and provide guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Manage your own technical outputs and contribute to wider project delivery.

What Our Client is Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience in civil engineering and/or flood risk management.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
  • Membership or progression towards membership of a relevant professional institution, such as ICE or CIWEM.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Understanding of project governance, stakeholder coordination and quality management.
  • Experience supporting or leading technical reviews, collaborative workshops or construction-stage activities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and technical outputs.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to project or client locations is desirable.
