Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working exclusively on behalf of a leading specialist engineering business to recruit a Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician for their growing Leeds operation.

The successful candidate will primarily support the assembly and testing of components used across a range of demanding industries.
The Role
As a Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, maintaining and overhauling specialist mechanical and hydraulic components.
Working predominantly within a dedicated, recently upgraded clean room environment, you will receive the training and support required to develop your knowledge of the highly detailed standards and requirements associated with the defence sector.
Benefits:
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday - 07:00 - 15:30 / Friday - 07:30 - 11:30
Hours Per Week: 36 hours per week
Holiday: 30 days' holiday, increasing by 1 day per year of service up to a maximum of 33 days
Sick Pay: Enhanced sick pay after 1 year's service
Key responsibilities include:
- Assembly of high-pressure pumps, valves and associated mechanical components
- Working from technical drawings, detailed BOMs and written work instructions
- Setting up and testing completed assemblies using specialist test rigs
- Carrying out static and dynamic load testing, pressure testing and flow-rate testing
- Supporting repair, maintenance and overhaul (RMO) activities
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in line with relevant procedures and quality standards
- Working as part of a growing team supporting increased demand from the defence sector
- Potential opportunities for UK customer-site installation and technical support, where required
About You
We are looking for a mechanically minded individual with a strong foundation in mechanical assembly who is keen to develop their technical knowledge and progress within a specialist engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience assembling mechanical components, particularly where detailed BOMs are involved
- The ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings
- Experience following detailed written work instructions and procedures
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Previous product or component testing experience would be advantageous
- Experience with hydraulic assemblies such as pumps or valves would be advantageous, but is not essential
- Previous machining experience, such as operating metalworking lathes, honing or lapping equipment, would be advantageous
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within a specialist engineering environment
