QA Test Engineer – (AWS Console, Automation Testing)

£70,000 – £75,000 (DOE)
Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET with AWS test environments AWS Console, Playwright or Cypress TypeScript, JavaScript, API Testing, CI/CD needed for a permanent career opportunity based in Leeds (Hybrid). Start ASAP ideally September/October 2026.
Hybrid Working – 2 days/week remote (WFH), and 3 days/week working on-site from the Leeds office.
A chance to work with a leading global IT transformation business specialising in delivering large-scale Government digital modernisation projects.
Key skills, experience + duties to include:
- Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET with AWS test environments AWS Console essential, Playwright or Cypress TypeScript, JavaScript, API Testing, CI/CD
- AWS console experience is essential, experience navigating AWS and supporting automation/testing environments.
- AWS: Experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch) in test environments.
- Technical Environment: Test automation frameworks like Cypress or Playwright, Gherkin, scripting in JavaScript, TypeScript, setting up and maintaining automation infrastructure.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrating automated tests into pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- API Testing & RESTful API Knowledge: Designing/executing API tests using Postman, Playwright, Cypress; deep understanding of RESTful APIs (request/response, status codes, authentication).
- Software testing principles and methodologies: Includes knowledge of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and various testing types (functional, regression, integration, unit, system).
- Test Case Management: Proficient in designing test cases, executing tests, identifying defects and verifying fixes.
- Agile practices: working in an agile team (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), along with ability to collaborate closely with developers, product owners and other team members to clarify requirements and ensure high-quality software delivery within iterative development cycles.
- SQL Expertise: Validating data and back-end testing using SQL; writing complex queries for functional/integration testing.
- Defect Management: Tracking, prioritizing, reporting bugs, and root cause analysis.
- Quality Assurance: Promoting quality standards and contributing to a culture of quality across teams.
- Familiar with GitHub (version control) and Jira (collaboration).
- Advantageous skills: Performance/Security Testing (optional): Exposure to JMeter or any other security testing tools.
- SC Clearance strongly desirable
