The Role
At Sterilog Pudsey, our decontamination facility plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring that surgical and medical equipment is delivered to hospitals in a clean and surgically safe condition.
As a Production Technician & Driver, you will play an essential part in the decontamination and distribution process. You will operate washer disinfectors, sterilisers, and other decontamination equipment, while also supporting the safe and timely transportation of surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment between our facility and customer hospitals.
This is a dual-role position, with your day-to-day duties split between Production Technician and Driver responsibilities depending on operational demand and business requirements. Flexibility is therefore essential, as some shifts may be primarily production-based while others may focus on deliveries and collections.
Location: B. Braun Sterilog, Richardshaw Road, Pudsey, LS28 6QW. Free parking available on site.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5:30am - 1:30pm
Salary: £25,272 per annum
Your Responsibilities:Production & Decontamination- Dismantle and prepare used surgical equipment for decontamination.
- Manually clean heavily contaminated instruments in line with work instructions.
- Load medical devices into washer disinfectors in accordance with quality procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
- Carry out quality inspections to ensure instruments are clean, safe, and fit for use.
- Assemble and package trays, sets, and supplementary items according to instrument count sheets.
- Check sterilised goods and associated process documentation.
- Load trays and equipment onto transport trolleys for dispatch.
- Safely transport surgical instruments and medical devices between the decontamination facility and customer hospitals.
- Load, unload, move, and handle instrument trays, trolleys, and containers safely.
- Ensure all goods are transported securely and arrive within strict healthcare delivery timescales.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Keep accurate vehicle, delivery, and transport records.
- Follow planned routes while adapting to changing traffic conditions and operational requirements.
- Act as a professional representative of B. Braun when visiting customer sites.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Driving experience and confidence driving as part of your role.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
- Ability to work in a methodical and organised manner.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to lift and move instrument trays, trolleys, and containers when required.
