Our client is an established and ambitious commercial interiors, fit out, refurbishment and maintenance business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors.

Working with a range of commercial and blue-chip customers, they provide complete project solutions from design and planning through to build, fit out, maintenance and aftercare. Following sustained growth and an exciting strategic plan, they are now looking to appoint a Head of Build to help lead the next phase of their development.

Description

As Head of Build, you will take overall responsibility for the Build and Maintenance divisions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standards.

Based ideally in the Leeds/Yorkshire region, the role will oversee projects primarily across the North East, North West and East Midlands. Working closely with Design, Operations, Commercial and Senior Leadership teams, you will play a pivotal role in translating company strategy into successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading multiple fit out, refurbishment and maintenance projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
• Managing site teams, maintenance engineers, subcontractors and delivery partners.
• Driving operational performance, client satisfaction and project profitability.
• Taking responsibility for budgets, resource planning, labour utilisation and commercial performance.
• Working closely with estimating and commercial teams on pricing, tender submissions and future opportunities.
• Building strong client relationships and acting as a senior point of contact throughout project delivery.
• Supporting business growth through operational excellence and repeat business opportunities.
• Developing, mentoring and growing high-performing operational teams.
• Ensuring all projects meet health & safety, compliance and quality standards.
• Providing strategic leadership, reporting and performance data to company leadership.

Profile

Successful Head of Build will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a senior delivery, contracts management, operations or build leadership role.
• A strong background within commercial fit out, interiors, refurbishment or associated construction environments.
• Experience managing projects from initial planning through to successful completion.
• A track record delivering projects valued from £500k upwards, ideally extending into multi-million-pound programmes.
• Strong commercial awareness with responsibility for budgets, margins and operational performance.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams including site managers, engineers, contractors and subcontractors.
• The ability to build lasting relationships with commercial and blue-chip clients.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A hands-on, collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across all areas of the business.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety, compliance and construction best practice.
