Payroll Team Leader | Leeds | £40,000 | Office-based | Flexible start & finish times

We are working with a growing business in Leeds that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join its busy and expanding payroll function.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take responsibility for the processing of payroll, payroll compliance, legislation and reporting, whilst managing and supporting a small team.

The role would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy environment, can manage competing priorities and is confident taking ownership of the payroll function.

The Role

• Taking responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
• Processing payrolls for a bureau, managing multiple payrolls and deadlines
• Ensuring payroll processes comply with HMRC requirements and current legislation
• Taking ownership of payroll reporting and reconciliations
• Managing and supporting a small payroll team
• Reviewing payrolls and ensuring accuracy before completion
• Dealing with payroll queries and resolving issues
• Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensuring these are implemented correctly
• Using Excel to analyse payroll data and produce reports
• Managing workloads and priorities within a busy and growing function
• Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies

About You

• Strong payroll processing experience, ideally including both weekly and monthly payrolls
• Previous experience of leading or managing a small team
• Good knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC compliance
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data and reporting
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to manage multiple payrolls and competing deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership
