We are recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing business that is looking to add an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to its existing engineering team. This is a days-based position, Monday to Friday, with some opportunity for overtime if wanted (but not expected). The business operates across two manufacturing sites, each with very different production processes, giving a varied engineering environment with a broad mix of mechanical, electrical, process and plant equipment. Our client is looking for someone who enjoys working with complicated manufacturing machinery, is confident fault-finding under pressure and is comfortable taking ownership of maintenance issues from diagnosis through to resolution.

Maintenance Engineer - The role - Plant Equipment, Multi-skilled, Electrical, Mechanical, Asset Care

You will join an existing team of Maintenance Engineers with the business looking to expand the department as its manufacturing operations continue to develop. The role will involve a mixture of planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown work, fault finding and continuous improvement across both manufacturing sites. The equipment is varied and, in places, technically complex, so this would suit an engineer who enjoys getting to the root cause of problems rather than simply carrying out routine maintenance. You will work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability, minimise downtime and ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

Maintenance Engineer - Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance across a wide range of manufacturing equipment.
• Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Working on complex production machinery and process equipment.
• Identifying root causes of recurring faults and implementing permanent improvements.
• Supporting production teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Carrying out maintenance and repairs on motors, drives, pumps, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics and associated equipment.
• Working with electrical control systems and undertaking fault finding where required.
• Supporting maintenance activity across both manufacturing facilities.
• Assisting with machinery upgrades, modifications and improvement projects.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring work is completed to appropriate safety standards.
• Contributing to the development of preventative maintenance schedules and engineering procedures.
• Working closely with the wider engineering team to share knowledge and improve plant performance.
• Supporting the maintenance and safe operation of site utilities and boiler systems where appropriately qualified.

Maintenance Engineer - The Candidate - Plant Equipment, Multi-skilled, Electrical, Mechanical, Asset Care

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who has previously worked within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment. You should be comfortable working independently when required, while also being an effective member of a small engineering team. The nature of the equipment means the role will particularly suit someone who enjoys technically challenging machinery and fault finding. The business is looking for an engineer who will investigate problems properly, understand why failures have occurred and help prevent them from happening again. Candidates could come from a mechanical or electrical background, although you should have developed genuinely multi-skilled maintenance capability during your career.

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining complex manufacturing or production machinery.
• A good understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
• Experience responding to breakdowns in a production environment.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, pumps, conveyors, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
• A practical and methodical approach to fault finding.
• Experience identifying root causes and implementing engineering improvements.
• A strong awareness of health and safety within an industrial environment.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small maintenance team.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer who wants to work in a varied manufacturing environment where the engineering challenges are genuinely interesting.
