Role Overview
A leading national law firm is seeking an ambitious data protection lawyer to join its highly regarded Health Commercial & Regulatory team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with major NHS organisations, independent healthcare providers, life sciences businesses and health technology innovators on a broad range of data protection, information law and commercial matters.

The successful candidate will advise on complex and evolving issues relating to data governance, commercial contracting and regulatory compliance, while enjoying significant client exposure and responsibility within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Candidate Profile / Experience Needed
Applications are welcomed from qualified solicitors with experience advising on data protection, information law, commercial contracts or related regulatory matters. Experience gained within the health sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Strong experience advising on data protection and information law issues.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, technology agreements, licensing arrangements or data processing agreements.
• Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence handling client relationships and taking ownership of matters.
• A proactive approach to business development and networking activities.
• A genuine interest in the evolving legal landscape surrounding data, technology, healthcare and innovation.

The Opportunity This role offers exposure to a diverse and high-quality workload, including:

• Advising healthcare organisations, public bodies and commercial clients on data protection and information governance matters.
• Drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, data sharing arrangements and international transfer documentation.
• Supporting clients with data breaches, privacy notices and subject access requests.
• Advising on the legal use of health data by researchers, innovators and technology providers.
• Drafting and negotiating framework agreements, bespoke commercial contracts and technology licensing arrangements.
• Providing advice on Freedom of Information requests and public law issues associated with data use.
• Working closely with clients across the health, life sciences and technology sectors.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to business development initiatives, client training, thought leadership and profile-raising activities across the firm's national practice.
