JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, with a dedicated weekly administration day and the opportunity to work remotely on that day

JOB OVERVIEW

A rewarding opportunity is available to help young people progress into employment, apprenticeships or further education through practical, inclusive learning. The Functional Skills Tutor / Employability Tutor will support learners from initial assessment to successful completion.

The Functional Skills Tutor / Employability Tutor will deliver Entry Level to Level 2 programmes, including Functional Skills and GCSE English and maths, alongside employability and pastoral support.

Working with curriculum colleagues, apprenticeship teams and external partners, the Functional Skills Tutor / Employability Tutor will help learners build confidence, resilience and positive progression.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Functional Skills Tutor / Employability Tutor include:

• Teaching and Learning: Deliver engaging employability, skills-based and vocational learning for post-16 learners
• Functional Skills and GCSE Delivery: Teach Entry Level to Level 2, including Functional Skills and GCSE English and maths
• Employability and Work Readiness: Embed employability, behaviour, social skills and work-readiness into teaching and learning
• Learner Progress: Monitor progress, use assessment information and set individual learning targets
• Programme Planning: Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, learning plans, assignments and resources that meet learner needs
• Assessment and Examinations: Organise and support assessments, coursework, examinations and related administration
• Pastoral Support: Provide tutorial and pastoral support that promotes learner wellbeing, confidence and achievement
• Records and Compliance: Maintain accurate learner records using ICT and tracking systems, supporting funding, quality and audit requirements
• Partnership Working: Build effective links with apprenticeship teams, colleagues and external organisations to support learner progression
• Safeguarding and Inclusion: Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety and an inclusive learning environment

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Level 2 or above qualification in Education and Training (or equivalent teaching qualification)
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant vocational subject
• Experience teaching English and maths up to Level 2
• Experience delivering engaging learning to young people within further education or post-16 provision
• Ability to build positive learner relationships, motivate learners and adapt teaching to different learning needs
• Strong classroom management, communication, organisational and digital skills
• Commitment to safeguarding, learner wellbeing and high-quality education that supports positive progression
• Ability to plan, monitor and support individual learner progress
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners
