Hays is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join a well-established organisation in the education and public sector environment. This role will take ownership of day-to-day financial operations, leading a transactional finance team while ensuring robust financial controls, compliance, operational efficiency, and high service standards across the finance function.

Paying £38,000 - £46,000 depending on level of experience
Your new role
You'll play a key leadership role within the finance team, overseeing operational finance activities of a team of 6 whilst acting as a trusted finance partner across the organisation.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all day-to-day financial operations and ensuring activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Managing, motivating and developing a team of finance professionals.
- Providing expert guidance on financial regulations, policies, controls and best practice.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and offering clear financial advice and support.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations.
- Ensuring compliance, accuracy and strong financial governance throughout transactional finance processes.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will bring strong operational finance experience together with proven leadership capability.We're particularly interested in individuals who have:
- Experience working within a public sector or highly regulated public sector organisations.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing or supervising finance teams.
- A background in transactional finance, finance operations, financial services, or shared service environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to provide financial guidance, solve complex issues and improve processes.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with a focus on service delivery and continuous improvement.
