The Opportunity
We are an established specialist in commercial vehicle safety systems and fleet technology, working with fleet operators across the UK to deliver practical, engineered solutions that improve vehicle safety, compliance and operational performance.
We don't simply sell individual products. We work with our customers to understand the challenges they face and bring together the right combination of technology, products, installation and support to deliver a Total Fleet Solution.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to take ownership of our North West territory and further develop our presence within the commercial fleet sector.
This is a proactive business development role for someone who enjoys creating opportunities, opening new doors and building strong commercial relationships.
You'll be responsible for developing new business with commercial fleet operators across your region, taking opportunities from initial conversation through to solution development, quotation, negotiation and order, while building relationships that create long-term value for both the customer and the company.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll take ownership of business development across your territory, with responsibility for building a strong pipeline and delivering sustainable sales growth.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, targeting and developing new business opportunities with commercial fleet operators across the North West.
- Building strong relationships with Fleet Managers, Transport Managers, commercial vehicle dealerships and other key decision-makers and industry stakeholders.
- Taking a consultative approach to understand each customer's fleet, operational, safety and compliance requirements.
- Promoting the breadth of our capabilities, identifying opportunities to bring together products, technology, installation and support to deliver a Total Fleet Solution.
- Developing customer opportunities from initial engagement through site meetings, specification, quotation, negotiation and order.
- Identifying opportunities to develop and grow existing customer relationships alongside new business acquisition.
- Working collaboratively with our internal Sales, Projects, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are practical, commercially viable and successfully delivered.
- Maintaining a strong and well-managed sales pipeline through our CRM system.
- Providing accurate and realistic sales forecasts and working towards agreed sales targets and objectives.
- Developing a strong understanding of your regional market, identifying emerging opportunities and potential customers.
- Representing us professionally at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and trade shows.
What We're Looking For
Above all, we're looking for a genuine business developer.
You'll be commercially driven, comfortable creating your own opportunities and confident building relationships from the ground up. You'll also understand that successful business development isn't just about winning an initial order. It's about understanding the customer, delivering the right solution and developing a relationship that grows over time.
You'll ideally bring:
- A proven track record in B2B business development, field sales or solution-based sales.
- Demonstrable experience of identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities.
- A consultative approach to selling, with the ability to understand a customer's requirements and develop an appropriate solution.
- Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial confidence and the ability to negotiate effectively.
- The ability to engage credibly with customers and decision-makers at different levels.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to manage a regional territory effectively.
- Good pipeline management, CRM discipline and forecasting skills.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach, with a willingness to share knowledge, support colleagues and contribute to the wider success of the Sales team.
- A full UK driving licence.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
Experience within the HGV, commercial vehicle, fleet, transport, logistics, vehicle technology or associated automotive sectors would be particularly beneficial.
Knowledge of commercial vehicle safety systems or fleet technology would also be advantageous, as would an established network within the commercial fleet sector.
However, for the right experienced business development professional, comprehensive product and technical training will be provided.
