Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Cryptography Engineer to lead the engineering capability for Key Management services within a specialist Cryptography function.
The role will have end-to-end accountability for the operational health, reliability and continuous improvement of key management services. You will provide technical leadership to engineering teams and ensure cryptographic services are designed, built and operated in line with security policies, regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and provide technical direction to engineering teams responsible for Key Management services.
- Own engineering delivery and operational outcomes across the service lifecycle.
- Lead the evolution of enterprise Key Management services.
- Apply cryptographic controls and Key Management principles across services.
- Embed crypto-agility and modern DevOps engineering practices.
- Ensure cryptographic services are secure, resilient, scalable and maintainable.
- Support cryptographic ceremonies and HSM lifecycle management.
- Coach and develop engineering teams and improve engineering maturity.
- Ensure services meet security, regulatory and audit requirements.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Risk, Compliance and Audit stakeholders.
- Drive improvements in service reliability, operational effectiveness and delivery predictability.
- Identify and manage operational and security risks.
- Support prioritisation and technical trade-off decisions.
- Communicate technical risks, recommendations and priorities to senior stakeholders.
- Senior engineering leadership experience with accountability for delivery and operational outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Key Management concepts and cryptographic controls.
- Experience with Key Management operating models.
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of modern engineering and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in high-risk or regulated environments.
- Experience ensuring services meet security, regulatory and audit requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience delivering scalable, resilient and highly available platforms.
- HSM lifecycle management.
- Cryptographic ceremonies and related operational practices.
- Crypto-agility.
- Financial Services or Financial Markets experience.
- Enterprise Key Management platforms.
- Experience driving engineering maturity, reliability and operational excellence at scale.
