The OpportunitySynergem Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a fast-growing financial services firm in Leeds to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant.
Having doubled in size over the past year this is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a pivotal stage in its development.
The position is ideally suited to an experienced practice accountant who enjoys reviewing work, resolving technical queries and taking ownership. Rather than spending most of your time preparing routine reconciliations, you will focus primarily on reviewing and signing off completed files, ensuring work is accurate, compliant and ready for the client.
You will also have genuine input into how the business operates, helping to develop consistent review standards and improve processes as the team continues to grow.
The RoleKey responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing year end accounts and corporation tax returns for sole traders and small limited companies
- Reviewing self-assessment tax returns and VAT returns
- Signing off completed work or returning it to the preparer with clear, constructive review notes
- Identifying errors, inconsistencies and areas requiring further investigation
- Resolving technical accounting and tax queries
- Liaising directly with clients by telephone and email to obtain information and resolve outstanding matters
- Supporting and providing guidance to colleagues preparing the work
- Helping to formalise and improve the firm’s review standards and processes
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least three years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Has worked with sole traders and small limited companies
- Has previous experience reviewing accounts and tax work prepared by others
- Can confidently review a file, identify when something does not look right and clearly explain their reasoning
- Communicates effectively with clients and colleagues
- Provides clear, practical and constructive review notes
- Is organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing their own workload
- Wants to take ownership and contribute to the continued development of the business
Applications are welcomed from ACCA, ACA or AAT qualified accountants, as well as candidates who are qualified by experience. However, practical capability and sound judgement are more important than a particular qualification for this role.
