We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected charity operating across the North of England, the organisation delivers specialist services that help vulnerable individuals achieve safer, more stable and independent futures.
This is a rare opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team of an ambitious and growing organisation at a pivotal stage of its development. As Director of Finance, you will play a central role in shaping strategic direction, driving financial sustainability and ensuring the organisation continues to deliver meaningful impact across the communities it serves.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with Trustees and senior stakeholders, you will provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation.
This is far more than a traditional finance role. You will act as a trusted advisor, influencing key decisions, supporting growth opportunities and strengthening the financial foundations of an organisation delivering essential services to some of society's most vulnerable individuals.
You will lead a small finance team whilst maintaining oversight of all aspects of financial planning, governance, reporting and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the organisation's financial strategy and long-term financial planning
• Provide expert financial advice to the CEO, Board and Senior Leadership Team
• Develop financial models, forecasts and scenario plans to support growth and sustainability
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance frameworks are maintained
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounts and statutory reporting processes
• Manage external audit relationships and regulatory requirements
• Support funding applications, contract bids and business case development
• Present insightful financial reports that support strategic decision-making
• Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, processes and reporting
• Lead, develop and mentor a small finance team
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
• Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
• An experienced senior finance leader with a track record of influencing at executive and board level
• Commercially minded with strong strategic planning and analytical capability
• Experienced in budgeting, forecasting, audit and financial governance
• Able to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• A collaborative leader who enjoys building strong relationships across an organisation
• Passionate about using your professional expertise to support a purpose-driven organisation
Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, public sector or grant-funded environment would be advantageous, although applications from candidates outside these sectors are also welcomed.
What's on Offer?
• Salary of £60,000 - £65,000
