This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced financial services professional with a strong understanding of client onboarding, AML/KYC procedures and regulatory requirements to take ownership of complex cases and play a key role in delivering an efficient, compliant and client-focused onboarding experience.

Working closely with Operations and front-office teams, you will be responsible for onboarding new clients, intermediaries and organisations, maintaining accurate client and portfolio records, and ensuring all processes meet the firm's regulatory and internal standards. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, support colleagues with technical queries and act as a subject matter expert within the onboarding function.

The Role

As Client Onboarding Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the onboarding of new clients, intermediaries and organisations across a range of portfolio and management types.
  • Completing and overseeing AML/KYC checks, ensuring all required documentation and regulatory checks are in place.
  • Reviewing onboarding requests and making informed decisions regarding acceptance or rejection in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining client portfolios, staff permissions, account authorisations and portfolio relationships.
  • Reviewing complex onboarding cases, identifying potential issues and coordinating feedback with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and quality of client data, including peer reviewing sensitive information and key changes.
  • Supporting client and colleague enquiries via telephone and email, delivering a professional and responsive service.
  • Preparing client and portfolio documentation following onboarding and portfolio closures.
  • Supporting transfers in and out, including understanding the relevant documentation, holdings and associated charges.
  • Monitoring potential risks and escalating concerns appropriately to protect both clients and the business.
  • Producing management information, case outcome reports and updates for senior stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate process documentation and user guides, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and working practices.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on onboarding processes, AML/KYC requirements and associated regulatory obligations.
  • Promoting a strong client-focused culture, ensuring fair outcomes and adherence to Consumer Duty requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within financial services, wealth management or another regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of client onboarding processes and the regulatory requirements involved in establishing new client relationships.
  • A good understanding of AML/KYC procedures and how these fit into the wider onboarding journey.
  • Experience managing complex cases, analysing information and making well-informed decisions.
  • The ability to produce accurate reports and management information suitable for senior-level review.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive, analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership of cases and collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of client care, regulatory compliance and operational accuracy.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join an established financial services environment where you can use your technical knowledge and experience to make a meaningful contribution to the client onboarding function.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex cases, develop your expertise and help shape processes that support excellent client outcomes and continued operational improvement.
