Tech Lead / Engineering Manager

Leeds (1–2 days a month on site)

£450–500/day | Outside IR35 | 3–6 months

I’m working with a scale-up who are at an exciting point. They’ve built a successful product previously and are now pivoting into a new product for a different market, and they need an experienced engineering leader to help them get it out the door.

The team is small (8 people) and already in place, with a strong CPO and a solid group of engineers. What they need now is someone who has been through the 0–1 journey before: someone to shape the architecture, lead and manage the engineers, and bring a culture of experimentation and delivery focus.

This isn’t about building the perfect platform. It’s about getting something to market quickly, proving product-market fit, and doing it at the right level of quality. Pragmatic over polished, without cutting the corners that will hurt later. The team could do with being a bit more gung-ho, and they want someone who can help them get there.

What they’re looking for:

• Senior or principal-level engineer who has also done proper engineering management
• Real start-up / 0–1 experience, ideally getting a new product to market
• Hands-on with AWS, TypeScript and React
• A pragmatic approach to architecture with no over-engineering
